Berry Green Smoothie
Make-ahead freezer friendly smoothies that are healthy, nutritious and so refreshing for your mornings!
Ever since I started to work from home, I need every excuse to get out of the house into the real world. That’s when I started to walk down the street to Starbucks and the donut store for a morning treat before I start my work day. But obviously the donut calories are not doing me any kind of justice. So with bikini season right around the corner, I decided to change up my morning routine with a healthy green smoothie.
But instead of having a green-green smoothie, I decided to throw in some frozen berries that I had on hand. Now I love all kinds of berries but I’ve found that blueberries and raspberries make a great flavor combo. Plus, you’ll get that extra antioxidant boost! From there, I also added in a banana for some natural sweetness and old fashioned oats to keep you nice and full until lunch time.
You can also freeze individual smoothie packs in a Ziploc bag using your favorite combination of fruits. You can have a different smoothie every day, and it doesn’t get easier than throwing everything straight from the Ziploc bag to the blender! There’s absolutely no thawing needed. All you need to is add your milk and oats when you’re ready to blend. Super easy, right?
Berry Green Smoothie
Ingredients

- ½ cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup frozen raspberries
- 1 ripe banana
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons old fashioned oats
- 1 tablespoon sugar, or more, to taste
Instructions
- Combine spinach, blueberries, raspberries, banana, milk, oats, sugar and 1 cup ice in blender until smooth.
- Serve immediately.

how many ounces does this make? for two servings? thanks!
How to measure 1 cup of spinanch
Loved the recipe!
I have a question though. You have used cup measurement for all the ingredients so, have you used the standard 1 US cup measurement of 201 grams for all the ingredients or have you used different cups for different kinds of things like 1 us cups is 30 grams of spinach leaves whereas 1 cup of blueberries is 190 grams. Please clarify as it is creating a lot of confusion.
Also, if possible please use grams measurement for all future recipes. Thanks! 🙂
Hey Aashna, I saw you commented this a few times with no reply so I hope I can help answer the question.
For some recipes where weight is a factor due to science and chemical reactions (like bread making or baking), one would definitely want to focus on gram measurements. However, since this recipe focused on measuring the volume of ingredients and no science is involved (meaning you can customize amounts of ingredients to taste without affecting the overall recipe), the imperial measurements are more appropriate. That being said, a cup of spinach is going to be less grams than a cup of blueberries because the density of these items are different.
I hope that helps. Someone else asked how to measure a cup of spinach and I would suggest grabbing a handful of spinach and filling the cup measurement until it’s full, no smashing or pressing it down needed. Again, all to taste!
Damn, this is delicious! I did swap the sugar for honey and used almond milk. It was a little sweet for me so I’ll probably leave that out next time but it satisfied my need for sweets this morning and I was bummed when my cup was empty. I was also out of raspberries and used all blackberries. The oatmeal made me feel full. Thanks for the great recipe!
Question – I am allergic to both bananas AND avocado. I have a really hard time finding any smoothie recipe without one or the other (recognizing the need for one of these for creaminess). I’d like to make this one, sans banana. Would you just recommend omitting? What about arugula in place of spinach (I LOVE arugula). Thanks!
You can omit the banana or supplement with a nut butter you like. I personally wouldn’t recommend arugula for a smoothie because it might be too bitter, but as always, please use your best judgement when making modifications and substitutions.
My common problem is the Costco bag of power greens going bad before I get through it. I know it’s a great deal so I keep buying it but I didn’t think to freeze portions of it? Am I understanding that u freeze the fresh spinach portions to? It doesn’t get gritty or watery? And u are freezing Fresh berries as well? TIA
Yes, everything can be frozen except for the milk and oats.
I’ve never had a smoothie with oats so I was excited to try it out! I used almond milk instead of regular milk and it was great!! I love the idea of making bags of the ingredients so all you have to do is pour the frozen fruit and veggies in and add milk- makes it so quick and easy!
Decided to try the recipe with a with few alterations.
Left out the banana and oats, added about 2/3 of a plum, used some vanilla flavored almond milk instead of regular milk, and added 1/2 of a cucumber. Turned out great and plan on making it again!
Thank you for the recipe, but seriously… LOL at the added sugar. Well, a mix of laughter and deep concern. Raspberry, blueberry, banana, milk, and you ADD a tablespoon OR MORE of sugar. For the bikini season hehe
PS I made it with fresh spinach, frozen banana and berries, Soy milk and no added sweeteners – delicious, thank you.
Instead of sweetening this healthy smoothie with sugar, how about adding a little Manuka honey. I feel that would be much more beneficial and healthier. I have a sweet tooth ( wish I didn’t!) And find honey in my smoothie hits the spot! Fab recipe!
A tablespoon of sugar??? Are you for real!???
Yes.
Oh yes I love this recipe thanks! I tend to prep my ingredients in small freezer bags for each meal of the week so I can save time in the mornings. This recipe will be incorporated into my daily routine.
Do you find that freezing the spinach with the other ingredients blends well? I usually freeze my leafy greens separately. I use raw oats or quinoa a lot too in my smoothies for meal replacement. Great site.
– Anna
I think I’d substitute honey for sugar.
This looks fresh and delicious! I’ve been looking for healthy drinks without the greens and this is one is perfect!
While this looks fabulous, it seems to have a lot of sugar between all the fruit plus added tablespoon (!) of sugar. My search continues for the perfect smoothie: healthy, tasty and not loaded with sugar.
You can significantly reduce the sugar by substituting the milk (12g sugar) with unsweetened plain or vanilla almond milk (0g sugar) and omitting the tablespoon of sugar (48 calories alone). That said, I do like the recipes on this blog!
Just found your blog and already have bookmarked a couple of recipes to try, thank you for the pictures and easy to follow directions 🙂
Hi!
I made this and it was so tasty!
I’m just wondering if the measurements are off though, as it made the tiniest smoothie…
I switched it up a little and loved it! 1/2 tablespoon of sugar and 1/2 banana and 1/2 kiwi and no oats (only because I didn’t have any). Thanks for a great start.
Great article, I have just started to incorporate more blue berries into my smoothies. Great way to incorporate the greens as well to make a great taste. I use this same one, but sometimes I will add a variety of strawberries and raspberries…Awesome!
I made this smoothie, it was amazing! The color didnt come out as expected, but more of a green color. But it tasted great!
I am lactose intolerant. Can I substitute milk for another ingredient, i.e. water?
Sarah, I recommend substituting soy or non-dairy milk rather than water.
Question.
Thanks! 🙂
Loved the recipe!
I made this today for a snack, and it was delicious! I was sad when it was gone! I did have to add more milk, though, because there was not enough liquid to blend on its own…
We make them with spinach, kale, chard, 1/2 cucumber, 1tbls coconut oil, 2 tbls flax seeds(ground), 2 tbls protein powder, 2 tbls collagen powder, 1/4 c coconut water, 2 kiwis, 1/2 c frozen blueberries is the base. Then add either 2 lemons, 1 orange, 1/2 c frozen strawberries and 1/2 frozen pineapple or 2 limes & a cup of frozen watermelon. This makes two servings and it keeps my 6’4″ carnivore, very physical husband full until lunchtime.
Really lovely, healthy recipes – very easy to make. Thank you.
Can’t wait to make this :). How do you store it if you freeze it?
Mandy, you can freeze in individual smoothie packs in a Ziploc bag using your favorite combination of fruits. It doesn’t get easier than throwing everything straight from the Ziploc bag to the blender and there’s no thawing needed. All you need to is add your milk and oats when you’re ready to blend.
I wanted to add, i used unsweetened almond milk instead of normal milk,
instead of only spinach i used a baby spinach/kale mix, also frozen mixed berries. Nevertheless, it’s so delicious. I think i will not be using any ice cubes next time, or a little less.
I ordered a blender and today it arrived. Bought some fresh veggies and frozen berries and also the unsweetened almond milk! I made the smoothie (without any sugar) about an hour ago. I made 32 oz. My 2.5 year old daughter tried it and 3 8 oz glasses later she says “mommy, smootie is delicious” ! Lol
This is a great recipe, she didn’t even mind the grittiness! I find the little seeds from the raspberries more annoying !
Thanks for this, we really enjoyed this delicious smoothie ! Yum Yum 🙂
This and others sound yummy BUT where are the nutritional amounts. All these ingredients add up and may NOT be for all to eat.
Nutritional information is provided only for select and new recipes at this time. However, if it is not available for a specific recipe, it is best that you use free online resources at your discretion (you can Google “nutritional calculator”) to obtain such information.
I’m wondering if you have ever blended these ingredients first then froze the blended smoothie for drinking or ‘spooning out’ later? I have paba free, dishwasher safe bottles that I use for my smoothies that would be perfect for freezing pre-blended smoothies in.
Unfortunately, I have never tried freezing the smoothie after it has been made, just before.
Love this recipe except for the oats. Am trying to go gluten-free (some resources list oats as gluten-source). What do you suggest as a substitute to make the smoothie ‘filling’?
Thanks!
Unfortunately, without further recipe testing, I cannot advise an appropriate substitute that will not alter the overall taste/texture of the dish. Using a substitution may also result in a mediocre outcome but if a substitution must be made, please use your best judgment.
I just made this, and it was delicious (and filling!). It was the only one I could find that called for ingredients that I actually had around the house, so I didn’t have to go out and buy anything special. Amazing!
my husband just went through a pill form of kemo so we are looking for new ways to stay healthy for us and our boys. I just love the smoothie recipe it looks so yummy. thank you so much and I also would love to win the giveaway we would surely make great use of it. thank you
I am trying to get healthy. I want to smoothie but some recipes are not so appealing. However, your recipes look very yummy and I’m anxious to get started. Thank you so. Ugh for sharing all your recipes. Your giveaway is a super idea too!
Thanks!!
Smoothie sounds interesting with the spinach leaves, but i will give it a try.
Do you need to add ice if you have frozen all the ingredients beforehand?
You don’t have to but if you like crushed ice in your smoothies, you can still add it in. It’s really up to you.
This looks delicious but not sure the table sugar is needed? Will skip that part. 🙂 thanks for the recipe
Made this, and it’s awesome!
This looks great! I have never tried oatmeal in smoothies; we usually use flax or chia. I bet the oats would make it more filling. Thanks for the tip!
This was my first attempt at making a smoothie with greens but it was delicious – definitely going to be a regular for me now. Thanks so much for a great recipe!
I just thought you should know that there is a lady using your pictures, along with a few other blogger’s pictures as her own. (watermarking them and everything). Her instagram is @karli_fit. She has about 4k followers, and over 90% of her pictures are stolen.
Thank you for letting me know.
Do we still add ice if everything else is frozen?
That really depends on personal preference. I always prefer to have ice in my smoothies whether the ingredients are frozen or not!
For smoothies, do you freeze your spinach right out of the bag, or do you blanch it first?
You can freeze the spinach right out of the bag.
this sounds so good!! I will definatly be trying this tommorow

Hi Chung-Ah, I have just started my own smoothie recipe website and was doing a bit of research when I found your site. It’s beautiful and I love, love this recipe. You can’t beat a berry smoothie. Amazing photos? Do you take them yourself?
Thank you! And yes, all photos are taken myself.
About how many calories do you think are in the berry green smoothie? It looks so good and I’d like to make it. I’m just on a diet…I mean lifestyle change that includes watching my caloric intake.
Stephanie, feel free to use online resources at your discretion to obtain calorie information.
Stephanie, I didn’t calculate the calories on this smoothie, but if you are trying to keep the calories low, you can substitute for a couple of things. For instance, I used water instead of milk, and instead of sugar you can use honey or agave nectar (or at the very least maybe Stevia, the least evil of all the artificial sweeteners).
This looks delish – I will have to try it!! Lately I’ve been into chocolate green smoothies. You can check out my recipe at http://www.kaleandtequila.com/green-chocolate-hazelnut-smoothie/ 🙂
About how much of each ingredient do you use per smoothie, particularly the spinach, milk and oats? Excited to try this!
Ashlie, as this smoothie serves two, you would halve all of the ingredients for one smoothie.
I think I would make a plain old vanilla milkshake first – throw some cookies or nuts in there if I’m feeling adventurous. Something simple, delicious, and familiar to kick off my blending career(:
I’ve always been too nervous to try spinach in my smoothies but you’ve inspired me!
We make spinach smoothies most mornings(2cups spinach, 1/2 banana, 1 scoop vanilla protien, almond milk and ice). This would be great for that! and soups! squash soup with grilled bbq chcicken on top.
Well now I want to make the one you made! Looks delicious! I’d probably make a strawberry & spinach smoothie, because I always have those on hand 🙂
looks amazing!
A smoothie!
I would make an oatmeal cookie smoothie
Yummmm! I love to have a smoothie in the morning on my way to drop of kids at various schools and then to work. Great way to fuel yourself for an awesome day. To say my blender stinks is an understatement this would be a sweet upgrade. Thanks for the giveaway!!

Love all your posts. It’s my go to for all meals!!
I make smoothies everyday, so that would be the first thing I would make
Looks great and I have all of those ingredients on hand. If I only had a good blender.
Thanks for the recipe. I’m a smoothie beginner and this is an easy one!
I would make an orange smoothie.
this looks delicious!! I’d make a fruit smoothie for my little one. they’re our favorite!
This first thing I would make is this smoothie. I’m always looking for yummy ways to get more “greens” into my child.
I’d make a green smoothie! They’ve been my addiction for the last few weeks.
My mind is racing about what I’d make first if I won this blender!!! Probably a daiquiri since the weather is getting warmer here in NC. Your smoothie looks delicious, I’d make that too! 🙂
If I had this blender, I would make a smoothie of course. I am definitely going to start freezing the individual portion smoothie recipes. It will let me take advantage of local farmers’ produce!
What a gorgeous smoothie, Chung-Ah!
Yum! I love quick morning smoothies….just need an awesome blender to make it easier!
Goods great especially adding the raspberry’s and spinach. Think I would make salsa or hummus. Thanks!
PS: I just found your website to Pinterest, love, love, love your recipes and blog! So friendly and the recipes are fun, and easy to follow! I want to try the “Butter Chicken”! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!

I’d combine all your ingredients & turn my new “Oster” on high

With my new-found energy ~ my friends will be suspicious!
I would make a smoothing for my son with oats like this one. I’ve been looking for a good recipe that he will like. The last one I made with avocado was not very good. I think that this one with oats and berries would taste yummy!
I’d make these berry smoothies first
i would make something with blueberries and beets for sure
I have been longing to jump on the green smoothie bandwagon. Currently don’t have a blender let alone a strong one. Smoothies first thing I would make.
I would like to make some green smoothies. I would also try making my own nut butters.
This looks delicious! I am continually looking for a smoothie recipe that my kids will enjoy. Think I’ll try this one next!
I have never added oats to smoothies before, but keep seeing it used, I should try that – would make any smoothie more filling for sure 😀 It looks amazing!
This recipe sounds delicious so I will be for sure making one of these for tomorrow morning!
This would be great for the morning to help cut out cereal!
I’d make any kind of smoothie that did not call for a banana in the recipe. Bananas and I do not get along.
Frozen pineapple, acai berry mix unsweetened, banana, organic greens, maca powder and hemp seeds. Thanks
If I win I would make your smoothies in it first thing. Thanks for sharing recipes.
I’d definitely make a smoothie. Can’t wait to try this!
Yummy! thanks for the advice
Smoothies! I want to try and eat healthier and I think a blender would really help me out! 🙂
I would make a crustless coconut pie, I love to use a blender for this
I would make fruit smoothies for my pre-school classroom to get them to eat more fruits. They usually only like to set crackers.
This looks so yummy! Can’t wait to try the different fruit combinations. Thanks so much for sharing!
I love berries and I love smoothies. This would be a perfect smoothie for me because it is loaded with antioxidants that I need. My immune system is suppressed due to chemotherapy so I need all of the help I can get to build it back up.
love the freezer bag idea. great prep work!
I would make smooth vegan icecream <3
frozen blueberrys
soy milk
agave syrup
chopped or ground vanilla pods
mixing together and enjoy ^_^
Berry smoothies are my fav but I’ve never used oats in mine ever. I would def try the berry green recipe posted to see how well it blends the oats in.
I wonder what they’re like if you make them and freeze them, then pull them out the night before to defrost? I tend to only drink 1 a day but this recipe looks like something I’d try.
The beauty of these freezer bags is that there is no need to defrost. You can pack them in single serving packs too.
Fresh roasted almond butter! I have a poor quality food processor that I would LOVE to replace with this!
Can’t wait to try that smoothie! Yum!
Had a delicious bowl from jamba juice that had granola and pb blended in. Gotta start making it and other variations at home…in my attempt to be healthier and spend less.
I would make a tropical fruit flavored smoothie, of course!
I would definitely try this recipe first. And I’m also thinking banana with chocolate protein smoothie would be amazing!
My daughter loves making smoothies with me, but we could really use a nice blender (we use a smoothie) maker now. It’s a great way to have a healthy breakfast or snack, especially to get kids to have more fruits/vegetables.

I’m super picky and this even looks good to me!
Oh and I might just have to try this smoothie as my first project with this spiffy blender, too!
I love the idea of freezing everything in a ziploc bag and just being able to dump it in the blender in the morning. That would actually make things a lot easier around here!
My daughter and I have PCOS so being able to make healthy smoothies every morning is very important. I think the first thing I would make for us would be a smoothie with blueberries (because they help balance blood sugar), plain probiotic sugar-free yogurt (because dairy products have progesterone in them), a teaspoon of Spirulina (because it’s full of antioxidants and kills candida), a handful of organic spinach, 1/2 tsp of maca powder (because it helps to balance hormones), a scoop of plant-based protein powder, 1 cup of coconut milk, vanilla, Stevia for sweetness, and a tsp of coconut oil. That would be our first smoothie! :o)
Vichyssoise! Mmmmmm…
I would love to make smoothies. My blender has problems.

Green smoothies are on the top of my “make when a blender is acquired” list.
Would love a powerful blender!
Smoothie looks beyond amazing! Can’t wait to try it!
I have not had a smoothie in years although i used to make them for my mother each morning while i cared for her. The lack of a blender really slows you down. But my specialty used to be ice cubes, orange juice, either plain or vanilla yogurt, banana and either strawberries, or blueberries, or pineapple. I had wanted to try mango but cannot find the really terrific tasting ones and was tempted to just use canned. Thank you for this opportunity.
I can tell you this post has help convince me to do something other than an egg breakfast for myself! Thank you! I would make this smoothie first!
I will definitely make this smoothie! Yum!
I’d make a margarita!
This looks great. I can’t get my kids to try green smoothies, but I bet they would try this beautiful purple one! Smart!

I live in the south so whatever seasonal fruit is available. Right now it’s a strawberry surprise fest every day.

My family is way past due for getting a new blender. It’d be useful to making everything from pasta sauces to strawberry lassi.
I would make this smoothie! Thanks so much!
I would toss in one of my own self-made freezer smoothie packs… I buy giant bags of frozen fruit and portion them out, adding in some fresh fruit as well. I broke my blender a few weeks ago, so right now they’re just sitting in my freezer waiting for me to buy a new one!
I would totally make a peanut butter banana spinach smoothie in this baby!
I would love to make the recipe from Damn Delicious!
This looks delicious
Not going to lie, I’d probably make this smoothie first:
http://detoxinista.com/2012/05/chocolate-peanut-butter-banana-milkshake/
And then I’d start making green smoothies. I gotta get my veggie intake up!
I’ve been on a smoothie kick lately, too! A new blender would really help!
I love smoothies and think this is a recipe I need to try!
My new blender would be used first for fruit smoothies to get my 3 year old granddaughter to eat more fruits! She’s a little persnickety .. lol
I would either make an avocado pesto sauce for zucchini noodles or almond milk!!!!
A vegetable juice.
I’ve been on a big smoothie kick. My 4 year old loves them as well. Sadly, my blender is a hand me down from my mom. It’s pretty old and takes forever to blend. I would definitely be making this recipe!
OOOH, I would make my version of a green smoothie: 1 can full fat coconut milk, frozen pineapple, a splash of mango kombucha, handful of baby greens (kale, spinach, etc.), and either frozen strawberries or blueberries. This serves 4 people and it is reminiscent of a non-alcoholic pina-colada.
Fan-tastic!!! Can’t wait to try this recipe.
I need to start making frozen smoothie packets. This mixer would be a wonderful addition to my kitchen. Thanks for the opportunity! 🙂
I would make a smoothie first!
I would love to try this recipe!
I love make ahead smoothies. While I was reading this i hypothetically smacked myself in the forehead for not tossing my leftover spinach in my bags last week!
This actually looks and sounds like something I would drink and make for my family~I’m really bad when it comes to the whole smoothie thing~I think this is the one I will actually make! Thanks for sharing!
I need to start making smoothie packets for the freezer. My older kids can definitely blend their own smoothies that way. That blueberry green smoothie looks delicious!
I would make this smoothie right away. Adding spinach to a smoothie is brilliant! 🙂
I would make this delicious looking smoothie first thing!
I have actually been meaning to try storing the servings in a bag and then blending in the morning. I feel like this would be such a time saver! I was worried about lost nutrients but realized that getting less of them than eating fresh is still better than not making a smoothie at all due to time restraints. I am really excited to portion them out, and to also make juices in jars ahead of time for the evenings. My jars will be in Monday!! 😀
I absolutely LOVE the idea of making little individual smoothie freezer packets! So brilliant!
I do love a good spinach and berry smoothie to keep me on the healthy track. I love how pretty this one looks with the blueberries and raspberries!!!
I love new recipies for green smoothies because you get your vegetables and fruits. That’s what I would do 🙂 Oh, there are so many possibilities!
Looks so delicious! I love the idea of adding oats to make it more filling.
i would make blueberry smoothies of course and walnut paste

I would make a strawberry smoothie, with french vanilla yogurt. I have not tried green smoothies of any kind yet, so those are on the list.
Probably this smoothie. Sounds yummy 🙂
The first thing I’d make would probably be a smoothie or beans. I pulse blend cooked pintos to get the refried consistency without frying them.
Thanks for the smoothie in a Ziploc idea. I think I’ll start making up some for the work week. Off to find protein-rich smoothie recipes.
Looks delish. Can’t wait to try!

First thing i would do is spend the day admiring the blender on the counter!! Then I would start making smoothies for the family. Soon after that my son would start making his protein shakes. Its endless.
Thanks for the great opportunity!
Oh! Would love to make your smoothie recipe with this fine machine!!
I love making homemade pasta sauces! I’m due for a new blender so this would be fabulous!
Berry Green Smoothie would be the first thing I would try to make. Thank you for this lovely giveaway!
I would definitely make a smoothie first. My kids LOVE green smoothies, but my poor blender is on its last leg!
Ooh!!!! Great giveaway, great smoothie!! I’d make a salad dressing for sure – one of my favorite things to make with a blender!
A chocolate avocado protein smoothie.
I love this one now! I just started making the chocolate/avocado mix and it’s great! I’m using raw cacao for the chocolate (recipe on mynewroots.com).
I would make chocolate milkshakes for my kids and a mango smoothie for myself.
I’d make space in my cabinet (donating the wornout oster I already have that no longer mixes anything but liquid ingredients–I know it needs to go but I’ve not been ready to commit to the purchase so this is perfect). Then I’d get busy with some copy-cat Panera mango (for my son) and black cherry (my fave that was discontinued recently) smoothies. YUM!
I would make a smoothie full of antioxidants with carrots, kale, and an apple, orange, blueberries, vanilla protein powder, and almond milk.
I would make a smoothie full of antioxidants from veggies like carrots and kale, combined with an apple, orange, blueberries, vanilla protein powder, and almond milk.
My favorite afternoon snack is a smoothie with banana, strawberry, and some plain greek yogurt!
I would make this smoothie for the family

Thanks for the giveaway!
Question – I’ve only tried oats in a smoothie once and the end product had a dry, gritty texture to it… Is this possible to avoid?
Tracy, there’s such a small amount of oats in here to produce a dry, gritty texture. If anything, you can always omit to taste.
I use whey protein powder in my smoothies and almond milk in place of regular milk.
Unfortunately, the giveaway is over.
Also for those who don’t care for kale, chard, spinach or even avocado, putting them in your smoothie with fruit and almond or coconut milk is a great way to get these great nutrient rich foods.
I like to use COOKED steel cut oats in my smoothies rather than basic dry rolled oats. Because steel-cut oats take 30 minutes to cook, I make a large batch to reheat during the week and I use some of this stash in my smoothies.
I would try to make smoothies for the family. I have a personal blender that I leave at work, but it would be nice to make smoothies on the weekend for the rest of the family.
Sadly this not offered to Canadians!
I would make this smoothie first and many more after that!
Your smoothie looks delicious! With the blender I would definitely start experimenting with green smoothies in the morning!
I’d make a green smoothie first. My current blender is not able to blend up fiberous stuff like greens.
I heart smoothies! I would love to be able to make them all the time! Thanks!
I would try to perfect a standard soup base, thicker than stock, to use in soups.
I have been looking for easy green smoothie recipes. I live in Germany and Spinach is incredibly hard to find if not in season. Can you recommend other types of greens to substitute in this recipe?
You can try substituting kale or swiss chard, although I cannot speak for how much this will change the taste/texture of the smoothie.
Any greens will work-it doesn’t affect the taste, but the colours-pink /blue and green make it kind of brownish. I like to Increase the nutrition by adding a Tablsp of flax seeds and chia seeds and sometimes a few Tablsp of greek yogurt. Yummy!
I dont know if Kale is available but its a good substitute. I make a single serve smoothie with 1/2 banana, 1/2 pear, 1 cup packed of kale, 1 tablespoon of almond paste or peanut butter and 1 cup almond milk vanilla flavored. Its amazing, hope this helps and enjoy!
What I would make first is to learn some Smoothie recipes that I like. Then I would begin a regiment of having a healthy delicious Breakfast smoothie to begin the day. Its easier to get your veggie and fruit requirements in for the day if you start with a smoothie with several servings of each in it.
I LOVE all these ingredients, but have never tried them together. I want to start making my own juices and smoothies (mainly because they can be quiet expensive to buy often). Can’t wait to try this one! Thanks for the recipe AND the giveaway.
That looks delicious!!
WOW, your smoothie looks easy & delicious!! I think I’d make THAT first lol..I also wanna make homemade healthy salad dressings and all types of stuff..I NEED this badly!:)
Thanks for the chance to win and for the great smoothie tips/recipe!
Joey J.
Joey J i have a nice healthy ranch dressing 1cup unsalted cashews 1/4 cup olive oil, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup lemon juice, 1 tbsp dried parsley, 1tbsp dried dill, 2tsp onion powder, 1tsp salt, soak cashews in water overnight in the morning drain and rinse combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor blend until smooth
Vicki, could you substitute the olive oil with coconut oil?
Hi Joey and Wanda, it is best to omit oil altogether. Even though coconut oil is better it still damages your arteries. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/LbtwwZP4Yfs it explains everything pretty nice.
My recommendation is to use an oil substitute you can so easily make at home. Here is a short how to video : https://youtu.be/d3GJiU2pLrk
If u might be into pro-biotic fermenting, making your own vinegar is an easy project. You can even make it out kombucha fermenting!
