Baked Apple Pork Chops and Green Beans
A quick and easy sheet pan dinner that can be assembled ahead of time and baked right before serving. Easy peasy!
Is it just me or am I the only one ready for autumn?
And I’m saying this as I am in Palm Springs in 110 degree weather. Literally.
Maybe I’m just excited about my recent trip to Chicago where I was lucky enough to preview the new Glade® Autumn Collection at a one of a kind, interactive event, inspired by scent that tempted guests to discover the glamour and mystery of the season.
My experience at the event and the collection really inspired me to step outside my comfort zone with this recipe.
Seriously. Because you know I’m all about those chicken thighs.
I was so inspired by the Glade® Autumn Collection fragrances, particularly with Spiced Apple Magic™, that I had to do something with apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. And what better combination of flavors to top off some beautifully seared pork chops completely rubbed with fresh sage?
See, I told you. I’m really going for it.
The best part? The complementary side baked right alongside your main!
Baked Apple Pork Chops and Green Beans
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 8-ounce pork chops, bone-in, 3/4-inch to 1-inch thick
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 16 ounces green beans, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
For the apples
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Rub both sides of the pork chops with sage; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Add to the skillet and sear both sides until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Place pork chops and green beans in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle green beans with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Place into oven and roast until the pork is completely cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 140 degrees F, about 12-15 minutes.
- Return skillet to medium high heat and melt butter. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples just begin to soften, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in maple syrup, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Serve pork chops immediately, topped with apple mixture, garnished with parsley, if desired.

That was a lovely meal! Fast, easy, delicious and plates up beautiful too. Craving them so made with sweet potatoes on the side. This one is definitely going in the rotation.
Fabulous & fast & easy & quick clean up!!
Tastes great too! Even for one who isn’t a good cook!
This was amazing! Definitely will be making again!!
So delicious and easy to make!
This was fantastic! Even more so because it was so easy to make. This was one of those delicious 30 min start to finish meals. Everyone loved it and I have some picky eaters! Thank you!
So, so delicious! Highly recommend!
As always you have the perfect recipe for what I was thinking about. A warm cozy fall meal for my family. Thank you for all your time and hard work.
Made this for dinner last night. My husband asked that I put it in our regular rotation. I couldn’t believe how easy, simple and quick this was and tasted SO good! I’ve never once made a bad “damn delicious” recipe, so I’m truly not surprised!
It is so simple and extremely delicious
Fantastic! Great flavor and easy to prepare. My new fav pork recipe
This recipe tasted great and was simple to prepare. I loved that all I had to do was brown the chops and then throw them on a sheet pan with the green beans to bake. The timing was correct and they came out perfectly cooked. The apples were a delicious touch! Even my picky eaters enjoyed it! Thank you!
My family doesn’t really like pork chops but will eat them if I make them. They all LOVED this. My husband even went back for seconds and my son said i need to save this recipe! My daughter then asked for actual baked apples 🙂 Your website is great and I have yet to find a recipe we don’t like. Thanks!
Super easy & delicious. We had boneless chops and used asparagus and put half garlic into the apple sauce
Excellent! I used dried sage instead of fresh and it turned out great! Will definitely make this again!
This recipe is delicious & sooo easy!
Made recipe almost to the T.
Omitted the nutmeg (husband doesn’t like)
Used salted butter, garlic powder on green beans since I didn’t have…
My husband and I loved everything about it!
Definitely will make this again and agaim!
Even good enough for entertaining 🙂
Thank you, you’re website is awesome!
Made this tonight, and my family loved it… will make again. May even try the sauce over a pork tenderloin. I cooked some fingerling potatoes ( started them 15 mins before I put the porks in the oven) with the meal and cut the syrup down to 2 TBSP, came out perfect. Thank you
Awesome supper easy recipe. I removed the pork from my cast iron pan and added sweet potatoes with a little brown sugar. Cooked for about 8 to 10 mins. Then added to the pan with the pork and green beans. Very good!
Used asparagus instead of green beans. My husband did not have fond memories of pork chops from his childhood. He loved this dish.
I’ve made this recipe quite a few times…and again tonight. It’s not only delicious and flavorful, it’s quick and easy…and who doesn’t love that!
Wish I could give it more stars:)
Made this tonight, I could eat an entire pan of just the green beans! Perfect fall/winter meal. Easily prepped & made after work!
Yummmm so good! The flavor combo of sage and buttery apples and cinnamon… love it. Thank you for this recipe! Any suggestions on what would be a good way to double this recipe? One baking sheet of pork and one of green beans?
What a great idea! But unfortunately, without having tried this myself, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment when making substitutions and modifications.
Jessica, did you ever successfully double this recipe? I have 7 in my family and would like to try it this week.
This was a great recipe, the first time I cooked pork chops and they weren’t dry. I did make a slight change and put the apples on top of the boneless chops in the oven instead of after. My husband loved it and said should have been more apples.
Thanks for finally getting me to not have dry pork chops.
Do you have nutrition fact info for this recipe?

What types of apples do you recommend for this recipe?
Hi Jaclyn! Honeycrisp apples are great for combining with pork. Because of the saltiness of the pork, a sweeter apple works better than a tart/sour one. I hope that helps!
I made this tonight for the first time and used Honeycrisp apples (only because they were the ones I had in my fridge), and it was wonderful! I have tried a few different apple pork recipes over the last few months and haven’t enjoyed any of them until this one!! And my kids loved it too 🙂
That’s so great to hear Megan, thank you!
What could be used instead of maple syrup?
Thanks…looks delish!

Any idea on other veggies that would go well with this dish? Try to work on variety!
Broccoli would be a great substitute or addition!
Have you tried Brussels sprouts? Love them this time of year and may try them if green beans don’t look good store..
I actually haven’t but it sounds amazing!
I have to think that the specified time in the oven is a typo… I’m using sliced pork tenderloin, about 3/4” thick, it’s not even brown after 15 minutes in 400 degrees… the beans even smell raw. It’s throwing my whole meal upside down… apples are ready, rice and bread as well, and the meat will most likely take another 30 minutes! Can’t comment on the taste yet as it’s not ready.
Hi Liz! Sometimes an oven’s set temperature isn’t always equal to its actual temperature. I recommend utilizing an Leave-In Oven Thermometer for accuracy. Hope that helps!
I followed the directions exactly as listed and mine was done in 16 minutes – including green beans. The only thing I can think is that your oven temp was off. Good luck next time! It was delicious!
Liz, Step 3 instructs to brown pork in skillet, so when you write that your pork tenderloin isn’t even brown after 15 mins in 400degree oven, I’m thinking you missed step 3…. BTW be cautious when browning slices of tenderloin, you dont want to dry it out. hope this helps
Hi! Is It possible to reheat this dish with the sauce the next day? Like to refrigerate the leftovers and pack for lunch tomorrow? If so how? At my job we only have a microwave to heat our lunch this meal was soooooooo delicious I have to share it on the military base tomorrow .
Yes, you can absolutely refrigerate and microwave until heated through.
Love this recipe.so good and so easy to make.
tried this last night. It was awesome!! i can’t wait to try it on a pork roast
Hi, Chungah, I’ve made this meal tonight. I’ve changed the green beans for broccoli and I added some little potatoes cut in halves to make sure they would cook at the same time then the chops. I had a real success with the apple and sauce. It was perfect. I only had to add 2 more minutes to cook perfectly the pork chops. I will recommend this recipe on my FB page. And will cook this meal again. Thanks so much.
Made these and they are amazing! Actually have made it a couple of times and love it!
Question from kitchen amateur… does it matter light or dark brown sugar and does it matter they types of Apple? tysm
Yes, taste does vary a little bit between the two sugars and different types of apples.
Nutrition facts?!

let me see if i understand this. this dish was “inspired” by an artificially scented, chemically compounded air freshener? i am nauseated. the pork chops look great – and easy, which i love, but i can’t even look at it now.
You can get inspiration from anything and anywhere! 🙂
Dish was inspired by a paid sponsor, I’m sure. Chung-Ah doesn’t seem to usually act this way – and her recipes are always exceptional. I’m willing to forgive this one weird one. I haven’t seen others… though, to be honest, I do split my time amongst her page and a few other favorites.
This is such a great meal! First of all.. the smells that come off when you’re cooking (*ahum, boyfriend is cooking*) are absolutely fantastic.
Everything fit so well together. We added some tomatoes, corn cob and garlic bread to it as well (don’t judge, we we’re hungry hahaha).
Definitely going to make this again.
10/10!
Made this for dinner, only change was I used dry sage. I received a delicious and delectable from the pork chop haters.
I absolutely love this recipe and plan on making it for dinner this week. I noticed that your recipe states it can be assembled ahead of time and then baked when ready to serve. Which steps would you do ahead of time? Is it ok to sear the pork chops and place on the baking tray with the green beans the night before then bake the next day?
I recommend searing prior to baking.
Delicious! I made it tonight and everybody ate it, including the children! Thanks
This was absolutely delicious!!!! Thank you for posting this wonderful recipe. This is the 1st we have tried from your site
Can this be slow cooked? I love your recipes so much by the way has changed my life!
It is very difficult to give exact conversion information to translate a traditional stovetop recipe to be used in a slow cooker without further recipe testing. However, here is an article worth checking out on a possible conversion guide. Hope that helps!
My entire family raved about this meal (and they usually complain when I make pork chops). It was absolutely delicious – fast and easy too! Next time I may double the apple part, as that was a huge hit with my 3 kids. Thank you!
Made this tonigt for dinner. Very good, The apples were a huge highlight. If you have commented on this recipe and have not tried. Make it soon. What a great fall dinner.
Hi there! I’m trying to cut down on refined sugar – any idea on how to replace the brown sugar in this recipe? I’m looking forward to making it – it looks delish!
Unfortunately, without further recipe testing, I cannot answer with certainty. As always, please use your best judgment regarding substitutions and modifications.
Hi Chungah, I made this tonight and used local honey instead of the brown sugar. I speak not only for myself but also for my husband when I say “It was DIVINE.” Absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for the recipe! We’re definitely planning on having it again.
JEssica, i use Coconut sugar. It’s a diabetic friendly, all-natural grainy sweetener. It replaces sugar (brown sugar too!!) 1-1.. it has an amazing taste too! It has worked beautifully for me in every single recipe that has ever called for a sweetener!! The only thing it does not do well in are cold drinks since it does not dissolve like table sugar. Stevia (pure) is also a great sugar alternative, but it’s like 1tsp for a cup or some ridiculous ratio. Xylitol too, but must be limited since it has a laxative effect in large quantities.
If you want liquid substitutes-honey and pure maple syrup are great!
Thanks very much!
Erythritol (swerve brand makes confectioners, granulated and brown versions) is a natural sugar substitute that doesn’t impact blood sugar and zero calories. Also lakanto monkfruit sweetener comes in all 3 types. Monkfruit is high in fiber therefore the carbs don’t register and blood sugar is unaffected.
You are a genius, Chungah. I’ve said this before and I will say it again- damndelicious.net is seriously THE BEST blog for people who are learning the art of cooking. You have such a gift of simplifying fancy recipes so that the every day person feels empowered to try something new. Cooking can be intimidating for those of us with only moderate experience but you make it easy and fun. That’s a rarity! And of course I loved this meal, your one pan recipes are absolutely brilliant. Thank you for all you do, so looking forward to owning your cookbook! <3
I made this tonight and the apples were very good. However, the sauce with the apples did not turn out. It was like the texture of glue and once it hit the plate, it hardened almost into a candy. What did I do wrong here? I used a cast iron skillet–was that the problem?
Oh no – it may have been sitting out for too long – did you serve it immediately?
Hi
Yup served immediately. Even in the pan though I couldn’t get it to fully thicken and then once served it hardened right away.
I made this tonight for my husband and I, and it was delicious. Thank you for the fantastic recipe!
Oh, Damn Delicious, you never fail to come through!
I’ll admit I was skeptical of the apples and pork chop combo. I know it’s a classic pairing but I just couldn’t bring myself to try it. When I saw your recipe come over my Instagram feed in the past couple of weeks I knew it must go on my menu. Seriously, this was SO very good. I doubled the apples because I have more than 4 people to feed and I could have easily made more because it was so so so good! I served some herb & butter rice alongside and it was a perfect meal! Another winning meal from you!
This is the only page I go to for recipes and I am so excited to try this one out tomorrow night! Only thing, I have never cooked pork chops before. Any advice to know what to look for? I spend much of my time second guessing whether I am doing things right and end up messing it up!
Thanks!
No need to second guess – I’m sure it will turn out amazing! 🙂
I will not make this again. Followed all directions closely but the pork needed so much extra time in the oven that it came out dry. The apple mixture was too heavy handed on the syrup. Not a fan of the sage dry rub. I think being on a flat pan, not allowing the pork to roast in any juices, really contributed to the dryness.
I’m so sorry that this recipe did not turn out the way you had imagined.
However, reading from what you had said, I worry that perhaps your pork chops were much larger than what the recipe calls for? If the pork chops are too big or too thick, they will require additional cooking time.
Also, if you are not a fan of sage, then perhaps this spice is not meant for you. This can be swapped with other spices to your liking such as basil, oregano, thyme, etc. Isn’t that the beauty of home cooking?
I made this tonight, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I used green beans from our garden. I will definitely be making this again. Thank you.
I made this tonight and all I can say is that, this is so very, very good. I will be making this a lot. I will double the amount of green beans, this recipe is a keeper.
Made this tonight for my 4 kids and everyone loved it! I used a bag of frozen green beans, so easy. Thanks for the great family-friendly, QUICK dinner!
Thank you! I made it last night and we loved it!!!! I used oregano instead!
Would there be a good substitute for sage? I happen to have all ingredients except for sage!
Thanks!
You can omit or substitute another herb to your liking. 🙂
I am regular visitor of your website, the recipes you give are always excited to read. and for some i try also. specially the sweet dish as i am fond of sweet dishes.
I am expecting some recipe for diabetes patient, will be of great help
Thank you in advance
Any dish with okra is number one for diabetics!
Made this tonight for my family and they loved it. I thought the apples we’re going to be too sweet with the brown sugar and maple syrup, but instead they were tangy, probably because I used Granny Smiths. The pork with apples together…yummy. We all said the recipe is a keeper. Thanks for another great easy recipe!
I make a recipe very similar to this. It’s Pork With Caramel Apples. This one sounds perfect for the fall!
Oh my goodness, this looks incredible! I love sheet pan meals!
I have never been a huge fan of pork and apple sauce or just apple sauce in general. But I think serving it like this with whole chunky apples would be a lot nicer (: as usual, great work!
This looks so yummy I love a one and done meal.. definitely will trying this in fall n veggies as a side good stuff. . Thank u
In trying to print your recipe i had to print 8 (EIGHT pages that was in color, which uses a lot of ink and paper
,
There was no option to print otherwise, in view of this, i think i will have to stop looking at your page.
Monica, there is a blue PRINT RECIPE button located in the recipe box – you can’t miss it!
I cannot find the blue PRINT RECIPE button either – I do not see the recipe box on this page.
Ignore my previous email. I just found it – spotted it on another recipe and looked generally in the same area…. was expecting it to be up top. Thanks!
I love this combination and can’t wait to try your recipe – when the weather cools off here in sunny SoCal!
I can’t wait to make this meal. It looks amazing!
I am going to order your cookbook. You are awesome sauce! I can’t wait to get it. I love every recipe I have tried that is yours. I’m so excited for you…
Congratulations 🙂

Could you use boneless pork chops for this recipe?
Yes.
